Install Lantern as a command-line application for direct control and lower memory usage.

Lantern as a Command-Line Application

After you launch the application, if no config file is found, you will be prompted to visit https://configurator.fluxrpc.com/ to build a configuration file before continuing to launch Lantern.

Quick Start

This will start Lantern, pre-configured to load a small, inactive DEX (2wT8Yq49kHgDzXuPxZSaeLaH1qbmGXtEyPy64bL7aD3c). This is a good way to test Lantern out for the first time, as it will not consume much bandwidth.

Download the Lantern Binary

Download for your operating system from the FluxRPC Website.

Generate Configuration

This will generate a config file suitable for running benchmarks. You'll need to edit it and add your FluxRPC API key.

Shell

./lantern-linux-amd64 generate-config

Start Lantern

Lantern will now be accessible on localhost:8080

Shell

./lantern-linux-amd64

The filename of the executable may differ depending on your operating system. You may need to mark it as executable, e.g. with chmod +x lantern-linux-amd64

Run a Quick Test

This should respond very quickly , it's a request for an account belonging to the DEX in the config file:

Lantern will need to be able to receive inbound traffic on port 8080, 8081 and 8090, and send outbound traffic to the Internet on ports 443, 8080 and 8081.
