About Lantern

🤔 How do I start using Lantern?
First, create an account on FluxRPC as well as an API key. Next, download and run Lantern. Access the Lantern Configurator to set up Lantern. If using Docker, instead use the URL printed to the terminal. Consult our documentation for more information.
👥 Who is Lantern for?
Lantern is for traders, arbitrage bots, and large-scale applications. In short, anyone that needs to query the Solana account state frequently and receive an answer quickly.
⚙️ How does Lantern work?
Lantern uses a custom protocol to efficiently synchronize your local copy of the Solana account state with FluxRPC. You only need to store and update the Solana programs you are interested in.
💰 What does Lantern cost to use?
The cost to use Lantern depends on how much bandwidth you use (6$ per 100GB). If you are storing Solana programs that change frequently, it will cost more. A good starting point is the FluxRPC Developer plan. This is enough to keep a few large programs up to date.
🔄 What happens if I request an account Lantern isn't storing?
It will forward the request to FluxRPC. You can configure Lantern to detect this and start caching this account and keeping it up-to-date in response to your request. This is a good way to store accounts belonging to the System or Token programs. Note that keeping these programs up to date can cost quite a bit of bandwidth.
💻 Will I need to change my application?
Lantern should be a drop-in replacement for any RPC service. If you ever make an RPC call that Lantern does not have up-to-date information on, it will simply pass that request on to FluxRPC.
